Intermediate DevOps Engineer

Digital Lumens Inc. is looking for an Intermediate DevOps Engineer to manage and evolve the continuous integration environment for our innovative Encelium Light Management System.

Encelium brings our customers advanced lighting management where people work, collaborate, play, heal, learn, shop, and more. We’re all about technology, but we focus on people first — listening to their problems and coming up with great solutions. We don’t just make life better for tenants and occupants. We enhance the experience of anyone who installs, controls, or uses interior lighting.

Based in our Markham, Ontario office, the DevOps Engineer will be working on the recently launched Encelium X Light Management System. Encelium X brings our customers a complete light management system that includes our intuitive Polaris software and a full portfolio of networked system devices — from advanced sensors to easy-to-use keypads. Encelium X has everything our customers need for exceptional lighting control today, from tunable white light to integrated audio/visual systems. And it’s designed for smooth growth in the future.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain and improve existing infrastructure for the build, deployment, and automated testing.
  • Provide hands-on support for the ongoing development of the CI environment.
  • Design and develop reusable components; maintain and update scripts as needed to improve the continuous integration pipeline.

 

What you’ve done:

  • Minimum two years experience as a DevOps engineer
  • Build automation (Jenkins)
  • Experience automating, measuring, and optimizing system performance and processes
  • Operational expertise in cloud monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, application monitoring, and database monitoring
  • Working experience in Cloud Deployment – AWS (preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Container orchestration (Docker, Fargate, Kubernetes)
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Experience with DevOps tools: Git, BitBucket, Docker, Jenkins, Test Automation
  • Comfortable in Linux and Windows

  • Experience with Automated testing platforms
  • Python experience
  • Experience with Cloud Computing
  • Experience with Edge Computing

Embedded Firmware Developer

Digital Lumens Inc. is looking for an Embedded Firmware Developer focusing on wireless communication for our innovative Encelium Light Management System.

We enhance the experience of anyone who installs, controls, or uses interior lighting.

Based in our Markham, Ontario office, the Embedded Firmware Developer will be working on the recently launched Encelium X Light Management System. Encelium X brings our customers a complete light management system that includes our intuitive Polaris software and a full portfolio of networked system devices — from advanced sensors to easy-to-use keypads. Encelium X has everything our customers need for exceptional lighting control today, from tunable white light to integrated audio/visual systems. And it’s designed for smooth growth in the future.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building firmware for a wide range of wireless mesh devices and traditional wired devices
  • Working collaboratively with local and remote teams to develop the current and next generation of devices
  • On-site and remote troubleshooting of wireless/wired devices (using standard debug methods such as traffic sniffers, etc.)
  • Push yourself, have the drive to build award-winning firmware

 

What you’ve done:

  • 5+ years of C/C++ work
  • 5+ years working in a development role
  • 2+ years experience in an embedded firmware role
  • 2+ years experience with wireless mesh technologies
  • Degree in computer engineering / science or equivalent work experience
  • Understand the engineering aspects of software development (unit testing, continuous integration, reusable libraries, code reviews, design docs)
  • Benchmarked, debugged, and profiled firmware applications
  • Thrived in an agile, iterative, things-will-change-often environment

 

What you’ve experienced:

  • C/C++ in an embedded environment
  • Knowledge of MCUs (Atmel, SiLabs)
  • Firmware development and debugging tools (Simplicity Studio, IAR, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of electronics (using an oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.)
  • Scripting Languages
  • Knowledge of Zigbee / Thread
  • Knowledge of DALI

 

It would be nice if you knew:

  • Silicon Labs stack/plugins and development tools (Simplicity Studio)
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Basic electronics knowledge
  • Python
  • Experience with Cloud Computing
  • Experience with Edge Computing
